Making your soul happy

A few weeks ago, a friend inspired me with an email.  She sent me a scripture related to labor and childbirth as she was spiritually preparing herself for the labor and delivery of her third child.

Since then, I have been taking time every morning to listen to my favorite worship cd and study the Bible.  I have been feeding my soul a breakfast every morning, and my inner man has been strengthened and nourished by this daily discipline.

I wanted to pass along a short, but sweet article written by George Muller in 1841 where he describes his own experience with feeding his soul and nourishing his inner man through studying the Word of God every morning and making his "soul happy before the Lord".  It's about communing one's heart with God at the start of every day.

It is making a world of difference for me.  I feel like the water faucet has been turned off for a while and my soul has been rather dry.  Since I have started the discipline of beginning each day with worship and reading the Bible - I have felt more peace, strength and infusion of God's love in my day.

I hope this benefits you in the same way.

*Warning:  the first few days of starting a new practice is excruciating.  Beware of distractions - they will try to seize you.  I keep a small notepad on my coffee table so I can write down my to-do list for the day (as not to be distracted by them during my "spiritual breakfast" time).
