There's no place like home.

You know you're at the tail-end of a long roadtrip when the conversation begins with "Did I tell you about that pair of socks I almost bought?"  I promise you Joe started a story with that question.

You learn so much about your spouse on roadtrips (even after five years) and thousands of miles traveled together.  Who knew my husband knew so many Barry White songs.  Even the parts where his falsetto is required.  Barry White then led to a conversation about Ally McBeal. Now we will be ordering the DVD collection on Amazon.

We arrived home yesterday elated to pick up Seattle from the kennel.  Both of us were leaping for joy to pick him up and have him home with us again.  We just feel happy and lucky to have such a sweetie pie of a dog. I can't imagine how we are going to be once we have children.

Venice was romantic and beautiful.  The sun was shining, the coffee was smooth and the gondola ride was peaceful.  We had a paddler that gave us the gift of silence.  He wasn't animated or loud.  He just chose to let the water, architecture and the beauty of the day stand on its own accord.  We were in awe.

Sicily was a trip of surprises.  The first day we had a warm day so we hiked our tails to the beach for a day in the sun ~ eating, lounging, reading magazines and napping.  This was our first and last day on the beach.  The rest of our beach vacation was made up of rain and sea storms.  We found creative ways to enjoy Sicily despite the adversity.  We took long drives through the mountains and countryside as well as wine tasting and eating excursions.  The food was cheap and delicious.  More than anything, we had a brilliant time together ~ simple, intimate and sweet.  It wasn't what I expected, but gave me more than I could have hoped for.  Pictures on their way.
