The Joy

"I was the joy that was set before you".....and "you were the joy set before me".

I was organizing our office and desk space while listening to a stream of Worship music.  A song came on that touched me deeply in a way music only can.  The song repeated they lyrics "I was the joy that was set before you" - a reference to Hebrews 12:1-3:

¹Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, ² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.


I am amazed that Jesus would endure such pain to give me a new heart and a new life.  It is very easy in this world to "grow weary and lose heart", but what an encouragement to know how loved we are and what hope we have.  God finds his joy in you!
